Esparto press mat (capacho)

This esparto press mat is an esparto disc sewn in a spiral with a hole in the centre, like those used in olive oil and wine presses. It is braided and sewn by hand in natural esparto.

Today it is used as a small rug, a large table mat or a decorative piece with plenty of history. There are five sizes: Ø40 cm: 40 cm diameter; Ø50 cm: 50 cm diameter; Ø60 cm: 60 cm diameter; Ø70 cm: 70 cm diameter; Ø80 cm: 80 cm diameter. More pieces among our esparto rugs.

Handmade by artisans from Jaén

Esparto is one of the fibres most closely tied to rural life in Jaén and southern Spain. This piece comes from an artisan workshop in the province, where it is braided and sewn by hand, strand by strand. From cazorla.online, the craft shop from Cazorla, we send it to you just as it leaves the workshop.
