Our shop in Cazorla

La Alacena de la Abuela, your craft shop in Cazorla

On Plaza de Santa María, in the heart of the old town and at the foot of the castle, there is a small shop where things are touched, smelled and chosen without hurry. It is La Alacena de la Abuela (“Grandma’s Cupboard”), the bricks-and-mortar shop of cazorla.online: here you can see crafts, souvenirs and local produce in person, and this is where we pack every order you place online.

Walking in is like opening grandma’s cupboard

Most of us remember that cupboard at our grandparents’ house: a wooden piece of furniture where there was always something good, something useful or something pretty. That is the idea behind every shelf in the shop. Esparto baskets and pieces, clay jars and money boxes, wooden mortars, wind chimes that ring when the door opens, colourful bags and textiles, hats and knitwear for the mountain cold… and strings of chillies hanging from the ceiling, like in the kitchens of the past.

It is not a shop of identical shelves or soulless products. Every season new pieces arrive and others leave with whoever chose them, so every visit is different. What we want is for you to take home something with a story, made by hands that know their craft and built to last.

  • Skilled craftsmanshipEsparto, clay, wood and textiles chosen piece by piece.
  • Souvenirs of CazorlaPainted plates, magnets, mugs and the cheerful little witches with Cazorla written on them.
  • Flavours of the sierraLocal produce to take the taste of Cazorla home with you.

In the heart of the old town

On Plaza de Santa María, the loveliest corner of Cazorla

The shop is on Plaza de Santa María, one of the places nobody misses when visiting Cazorla. Opposite stand the ruins of the church of Santa María, a Renaissance church attributed to Andrés de Vandelvira that was literally built over the river: the Cerezuelo flows under the square through a great vault that can be visited today. Above, the Castillo de la Yedra watches over the town, and a few steps away the Río Cerezuelo trail begins, one of the nicest walks to start discovering the sierra.

That is why La Alacena de la Abuela is a regular stop for anyone spending a few days in Cazorla: a good place to find a gift, a souvenir of the trip or that handcrafted detail you won’t see anywhere else.
